Reading Miss Emma Ant to 2nd Graders - Be sure to click through to a sampling of the letters and artwork I received from the students after the reading. Some of them were hilarious, and ALL precious.

Miss Emma Ant

My newest picture book for children is here! "Miss Emma Ant" tells the story of  talented, hard-working Emma, the architect for her colony's anthills. Ants in the colony, not recognizing their own special skills, grow jealous of Emma, and taunt her until she quits her job. Chaos ensues! Will pleas from apologetic ants convince Emma to return to work? Vibrant, expressive illustrations and fun facts about ants make this humorous rhyming story both entertaining and educational as children learn to value their own uniqueness and the meaning of teamwork. Suggested age range for readers: 2-5

No More Gunk - Illustration Highlight

Even the teeth have personality in "No More Gunk!"
"Two Books in One. In NO MORE GUNK! short playful rhymes and humorous illustrations help children learn in a fun way the importance of proper dental hygiene. Tooth Tips in the back of the book encourage children to take care of their teeth. Snappy rhymes along with colorful and fun illustrations in OUCH! Sunburn! help children see the need to protect their skin in the sun. Sun Safety Tips included in the book reinforce the book's theme."

A Star in the Night by Jennifer Gladen, illustrations by K.C. Snider

"A Star in the Night" by Jennifer Gladen is a sweet story about thinking of others during the holidays. The illustrations by K.C. Snider are beautiful. My favorite one has young David with a Nativity and colorful blankets and is so pretty. At Christmas or any time of the year, this book would be a great way to gently help children to look at others in a different light and find ways to share their blessings.

A new review has been posted on Amazon for "Ava's Secret Tea Party."
"Donna J. Shepherd's new book, "Ava's Secret Tea Party," illustrated by Bella Sinclair, is every little girl's secret dream! Who wouldn't want to invite the Sandman, Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny, and Santa Claus to come for tea? This is another one of those books that children's book writers see and say, "Now why didn't I think of that?" It's also one of those delicious little books that children will scoop up and demand for a bedtime story again and again." - Penelope Anne Cole
